S. HAMILTON: Ellen (Merson) Perkins, 57, formerly of Beverly, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 in the Hunt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Danvers, following a long courageous battle with alzheimer’s disease. She was the wife of Philip B. Perkins, II.
Born in Danvers on February 13, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Harvey T. and Frances J. (Lynch) Merson. She had resided in Beverly for many years before moving to S. Hamilton in 1995.
Ellen was employed as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at the General Mail Facility in Woburn and North Reading for twenty years before her retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the A.P. Gardner Post #194, American Legion of Hamilton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Jessica, Heath and Veronica Doubledee all of Canada; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Saunders and her husband, Richard of Danville, NH, Maryanne Merson of Burnham, ME, Susan Drohan of Middleton and Amy Merson Tejeda of Gloucester; two brothers, Thomas and Paul Merson both of Beverly; beloved Golden Retriever, “Herman” and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Nancy Merson and brother, Charles Merson.
Her funeral service will be privately held in the North Beverly Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
