Gerard F. ‘Jerry’ Tardiff 9/4/2013 Salem, MA / Beverly, MA

Gerard F. Tardiff 64 of Salem, died unexpectedly at his home, Wednesday, September 4, 2013. He was the husband of Linda A. (Trahan) Tardiff with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Francis A. and Rita M.L. (Levesque) Tardiff. Jerry was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Lynn and received his BA Degree in Education at Salem State College. He taught for several years and later joined his wife in running a successful home based business in sales. Jerry and Linda moved back to Salem from Beverly to care for his then aging parents. He was most recently employed as activities director for the Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers.

Jerry loved spending time with his 10 year old granddaughter Kyla, whom he adored. He also loved to travel and just about anything ‘Disney’. Jerry was greatly admired for many talents, but one of his best was cooking. He loved to cook and everyone around him loved to eat his creations. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family, his many friends and business associates from over the years. Jerry made friends wherever he went!

He is survived by his wife, and was predeceased by their son, Gregory F. Tardiff who passed away in October of 2012. He also is survived by a daughter, Catherine A. Bradbury and her husband Howard and their daughter Kyla of Salem, his brother, Richard Tardiff and his wife Maryanna of Salisbury, his aunt, Terry Ogasian of Salem, his mother-in-law, Mary Trahan of Beverly and sister-in-law, Janet Wood of Haverhill. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Church in Salem, Unitarian, 316 Essex St., Salem, MA. A committal service for both Jerry and Greg will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Mass General North Cancer Center, Development Office, 102 Endicott St., Danvers, MA 01923. Thaddeus “Teddy” Bartnicki 9/15/2013 Beverly, MA

BEVERLY: Thaddeus S. “Teddy” Bartnicki, 90, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at his home following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Susan E. Nangle who died in 1991. He was the beloved companion of twenty-two years to Louis Dupee.
Born on August 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Wladyslaw and Jozefa (Lipka) Bartnicki. He had resided in Salem for many years before moving to Beverly in 1961. He was also a graduate of Salem High School class of 1941. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific before being honorably discharged in January 1946.
Teddy was employed as a service repairman for Sears in Peabody for over twenty-five years before his retirement. He had also once worked at Sylvania and Mercier Plumbing & Heating both of Danvers. He enjoyed summering in Tamworth, New Hampshire and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his longtime companion, he is survived by three daughters, Joan C. Lentini and her husband, Frank, Joyce A. Lamoly and her husband, Dean and Judith Kirk; a son, Paul J. Bartnicki and his wife, Karen (Schug); three grandchildren, Jessica Serlis, Kimberly Bartnicki and Tacheryn Morrison; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Desmond and her husband, Richard and Helen Mignault; a brother, Edward J. Bartnicki and his wife, Ruth; two brothers-in-law, Joseph and James Nangle and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his son, Peter Bartnicki, his daughter, Janet Rowe, his siblings, Josef, Stanley, John and Chessie Bartnicki, Mary Townsend, Estelle L’Italien and Anna Kowalski.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly from 4 – 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.

Margaret T. (Barry) Murray 9/15/2013 Beverly, MA

BEVERLY: Margaret T. (Barry) Murray, 87, died peacefully Sunday, September 15, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Ralph P. Murray who died in 2004. They had shared fifty-eight years of marriage.
Born in Beverly on October 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Margaret M. (Vigars) Barry. She was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Beverly High School.
Margaret worked for the telephone company after graduating from Beverly High School. While raising her children, she was employed at the former Hardie School in Beverly and briefly at Endicott College. She was a wonderful homemaker who liked to sew, bake and knit beautiful ski sweaters for all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, skiing, arts and crafts projects, and spending many sunny days at Dane Street Beach. She was a member of the Lothrop Club and active in the Beverly Track Boosters. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and spending some winters in Florida. She felt truly blessed to have so many loving visits from her family on a daily basis.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by her surviving children, Neil M. Murray and his wife, Georgie Collins of Cambridge, Mark S. Murray and his wife, Karen (Kristoff) of Winchester, Kris M. Lauranzano and her husband Michael, Julie A. Frerk and her husband, John all of Beverly and Steven T. Murray and his wife, Patrice (Cavanaugh) of Ipswich, eleven grandchildren, Matthew and Peter Lauranzano, Jacob and Jared Frerk, Jocelyn (Frerk) Larson and her husband, Nick, Chelsae and Dylan Murray, Nate Murray and his wife, Keri, Benjamin, Grant and McKenzie Murray; two great-granddaughters, Wren and Rhys Murray; a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Dexter and Marion Murray, Barbara Barry and Barbara Grover and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a very special friend, Jackie Thomson and a special cousin, Terry Mailhoit. She was also predeceased by her brother, Thomas Barry and three brothers-in-law, William and Martin Murray and Ronald Grover.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.

SALEM: Claire C. (Dionne) DiTroia, 72, died Monday, September 16, 2013 in the DeRham Hospice House, Cambridge following an extended illness.
Born in Beverly on May 3, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Emile A. and Jane M. (Pelletier) Dionne. She was a graduate of Beverly High School and has resided in Salem most of her life.
Claire was employed as a supervisor at Wal-Mart in Salem for over ten years. She also once worked at the former Parker Bros. in Salem for many years until they closed. Claire had many interest and friends. She truly enjoyed going to the Casino’s with family and friends as much as should could. She was a member of many social clubs in Salem and an active member of the Lafayette Club where she enjoyed playing Cribbage with friends. For years she collected all types of exquisite dolls which she displayed around her house.
Claire is survived by a son, Michael DiTroia of Dover NH; a sister, Janet (Dionne) Lessard and her husband, Roland, of Salem; three grandchildren, Laura DiTroia of Phoenix AZ, Jonathan DiTroia of Berkeley CA and Sarah DiTroia of Sanford ME; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Claire’s family wishes to thank the staff of DeRham Hospice House of Cambridge for the outstanding care and support she received.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 -11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Central Cemetery, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the DeRham Hospice House, 65 Chilton St., Cambridge, MA 02138.

SALEM – Paul F. Warman, 70, of Salem, died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, after suffering an ill turn.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Nathan E. and Dorothy (Gardner) Warman and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Until his recent retirement, Paul was employed for over 27 years at Auto Parts International in Beverly

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard G. and Sylvia Warman of Middleton, 2 nephews, James Orfanos of El paso, TX, Michael Orfanos of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and several grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert S. Warman.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church, 292 Lafayette St., Salem. A committal service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements by the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
